THE TRUTH ABOUT HOW LONG VOLUME LASHES LAST
So, you’re trying to sell a client on volume lashes when she asks how long they last. You ooh and ahh or fumble with numbers because you don’t actually know what to say… We feel you. It’s not a simple question to answer, but we’ll make it clearer for you and your clients.
The short answer: Same as your natural lash cycle
That said, not all extensions are created equal. Because volume lashes are thinner than classic lashes, they typically last longer. Why? Because you can get away with way less glue when you’re applying them. And less glue = less weight. And less weight means you’re not weighing down your client’s natural lash line and interrupting her lashes’ natural shedding cycle. Because if her lash extensions are heavy, they can cause her to lose her natural lashes faster than she would without the extensions. And no one wants that.
The long answer: Depends on how well you take care of them
Okay, so you know volume lashes can extend the wearability of your extensions, but there’s a catch: It depends how well you take care of your lash extensions. It doesn’t matter if you apply lashes by the book, if your client isn’t taking care of them, she’s going to be disappointed in their wearability—so make sure you stress the importance of a little lash love post-application. What does that look like?
Don’t get ’em wet
Okay, your client’s daily shower is approved, but daily laps at the pool aren’t. If her lashes are drowning in water (or oily makeup removers) on the daily, wearability will go down with them.
Turn down the heat
Likewise, if your client is hitting the sauna or steam room on the regular (or works in a hot af kitchen), the heat and steam can compromise that lash wearability again.
Forget the mascara
Remind your client she got extensions so she could forgo her everyday eyelash routine. If she’s layering on mascara every day, it’s weighing her lashes down.
Give them breathing room
We all like to face plant into our pillow at the end of a long day, but warn your clients not to smash her lashes in the process. Likewise, no rubbing and aggravating the lash line.
So, if you’re struggling with how to answer your client’s interrogation on lash longevity, you got this: If you’re both doing your jobs (applying and caring for the extensions like legit lash pros), you can expect them to last as long as your natural lash lifetime.
Lash on, queen.
