Eyelash Extensions
Eyelash extensions are false lashes adhered to the natural lashes with the goal of enhancing the length, curl and fullness of the natural lashes.
Classic Lashes are lash extensions that are applied in a 1:1 ratio, meaning one extension to one natural lash. Flat Lashes are Classic Lashes but with a flat cross section, offering reduced weight. Since flat lashes are flat rather than circular, a portion of the extension has virtually been cut off. This eliminates approximately 40% of the material and weight of each individual lash extension. The lighter weight means that flat lashes are a great choice for clients who have weaker natural lashes but want a darker result, as you can use a higher diameter lash without the full weight of classic lashes.
Volume lashes are a group of multiple smaller diameter lashes that are placed on one natural lash in the form of a fan to create a fuller, fluffier or darker look than a standard classic lash set. The width of Volume lash fans cover more surface area than classic lashes and the smaller diameter extensions used within the fans offer less weight, making them a healthier option for the natural lashes than classic lashes when used correctly. Volume lash services not only provide you, the artist, with an unlimited selection of styles to offer, but also provides the opportunity for clients who have fewer natural lashes to still leave your chair with a full and voluminous set of lashes.
The difference in width between the tips of a lash fan and the length of the base of the fan will directly impact the appearance of your lash set. When working with fans, you’ll notice there are many options available. The most common types of fans are long stem, mid stem and short stem (also known as wide stem). You’ll want to keep the width of your fan in mind when determining the mapping for each client, as each fan type offers something unique.
